Blooie's

Who'd have thought that in the quiet, almost sleepy surburbia of Jalan Tua Kong you'd find an American pub called Blooie's Roadhouse Bar & Grill. It looks a tad bit out of place as it's right smack in the middle of a neighborhood filled with bungalows, terrace houses, and condominiums.

Blooie's looks like it should be frequented by dusty Harley-Davidson riders who'd stop by for some drinks and a few games of pool. Instead, you find a good mix of expats, dating couples, and families. Service is surprisingly good and friendly, and it's a place to go to if you have a craving for hearty American meals at American sizes.

We liked the burgers and the nachos. Terence didn't quite like his lime Margherita, but I guzzled down my virgin lime Margherita. Maybe it's just a pregnancy craving; I was hankering for the same thing the first pregnancy too.

Jalan Tua Kong is in the East, but Blooie's has branches in Science Park and Rail Mall (Bukit Timah) too.

Two little fishermen 'caught' four prawns alive

Catching prawns with toddlers using a hook, line, and sinker wasn't as easy as two pregnant mothers discovered.

We caught the last prawn a little later

We managed (i.e. the parents) to catch four prawns in an hour or so at East Coast Prawning. The boys wanted to try fishing, but all Kai wanted to do was to swing the rod around. The possibility of the hook flying into somebody's flesh still gives me goosebumps.

It was fun, but I think we won't be back for a while. Maybe when the boys are older so that they can remove the hooks from the prawns themselves.

Watching Monsters, Inc.

We thought he was scared. But he enjoyed the show thoroughly.

What I miss...

I was organizing my shoe closet today, and found pairs after pairs of high heel shoes that I can't wear now and for a long time to come. *sigh*

Jelly-making day

Checking the jelly crystals

Pouring in just the right amount of water

Scooping the lychees into the mold

Next, the jelly mixture

(The end result is ready, and is sitting in the fridge. Mummy is just too tired to take the 'after-pix'.)

34 weeks and counting down

I am 34 weeks.

I am 34 weeks?

I am 34 weeks!

The reality that baby #2 will arrive soon has finally hit home today. But I'm not ready. I haven't exercised enough. I haven't dug up his baby clothes. I haven't found his swaddle cloth. I haven't put up the black-outs. I haven't decided on his name!

I also don't know how people take fashionable, self-portraits. Here's my "happy days" t-shirt from Desigual; it makes me smile everytime I look down at the happy face smiling back at me.

Toilet training

Here's how Kai feels about toilet training these days: BLEAH.

Decisions, decisions

What do you do when your child spills a plate of rice? You are pregnant (33 weeks) and you will be picking up your helper in about two hours' time. Do you:

1. Clean up the mess yourself
2. Leave the rice on the floor for the cats
3. Leave the mess. Pick up the maid immediately and ask her to clean up the mess

I considered option 3 seriously for a while. But sighed and went ahead with option 1 instead.

Totally wacky

And I'm not talking about my body which is totally whacked out at the moment. If I weren't so pregnant and mindful of my pocket, I would have swooped up Desigual's jackets and dresses in a heartbeat.

Their design is a montage of fabrics and colours that logically shouldn't match. Yet they all do, and the outfit just comes together like it's meant to be.

The prices can be daunting but their outlet in Marina Square is having a sale. Just check out the shop and think of it as an art gallery of modern art.

Kai's morning out with Daddy

It's nice to be just 5min away from the beach. Terence brought Kai for a walk while I get some alone time.
