Life after Harry Potter

So it's bye bye Harry Potter and hello:
1. Shoes. Where art thou in the storeroom of mine? Find you, I shall.
2. My Gym. Great exercise for Kai and mummy.

Hmm... there's very little to go by...

Wail!

I thought I killed a motorcyclist

Motorcyclists are my biggest bane on the roads. Most swerve in and out between cars with total disregard for their lives. So imagine my horror when I saw this motorcyclist come up from behind (left), and suddenly I heard a crash to my left.

I was on the CTE trying to filter left into the PIE exit (heading towards Changi Airport). Traffic was heavy and slow as it was raining, so I was having some difficulties filtering.

I was near the chevron markings before it happened. Even before I turned left (left signals were on), I've already noted the motorcyclist coming up from behind. Next thing I knew, he turned left and we heard a CRASH! next to us.

I drove on. Terence screamed: PULL OVER! CHECK IF HE HIT OUR CAR!

Car wasn't scratched. Motorcyclist just skidded and fell next to us. No one ran him over. He was ok.

If I were a cat, I'd have died nine times that very day.

Guilin View no more

Friends and family who have been to our old place in Guilin View would remember the fantastic view of the quarry. But we have to make the move to the East so that we could be nearer to my MIL, who looks after Kai while we work.

We said a sad goodbye to the place we've called home for about seven years on 19 Jul to start a new chapter in Casafina. Here's the view from the living; it's a pale comparison to what we enjoyed previously. *sigh* But it's for the better.

We sold the place at a price that's higher than what we'd ever hoped for. And we sold it to a couple who loved our home. So I guess everyone should be happy (including the agent as we'd set her a very high target, which means she'd pocketed quite a nice commission).

I miss Guilin View very much, and so the editor's decision is to keep the name of the blog although we're not living there now.

Only the store room left...

We've moved, but everything's a mess

Thu (19 Jul): Movers came and packed everything. We just directed them, and left them to their devices in the morning. Felt strange. Who ever moves house without even needing to pack? Called SingTel; got a new phone number as we're moving from the West to the East so they couldn't let us retain our old number. Movers said they'd be at the new place at 9/9.30am tomorrow.

Fri (20 Jul): Arrived at Casafina bright and early while Terence made his way back to Guilin View to check that nothing has been left behind. Found the movers packing some remaining items. (!) They only arrived at Casafina at 1.30pm! Then all hell broke loose. They left at 4pm.

Terence tried to make me lift the washing machine.

Sat (21 Jul): Movers unpacked everything yesterday, except for all the junk we have in the storeroom back in Guilin View. They are all stacked high in the small storeroom out in the new hall. And when they mean unpack, they just put them in places where they think should be placed. So meaning:
1. They don't care where it goes, just as long as it goes somewhere.
2. Things are not placed where you want them to be.

It's 11.45pm and only the living room, Kai's room, and master bedroom toilet are decent. (Except that we have problems keeping the living room neat because we keep hurling junk, empty boxes, and things that don't belong into the room.)

Status as of now (11.51pm):
1. Study/Store room is half decent: This room will also contain some of the junk from the old storeroom until we figure where to store them neatly.
2. The clothes in the master bedroom cupboard looks like a tornado has swept through it. The movers just threw them in.
3. The kitchen: I stand at the entrance, and I can only feel despair.
4. The laundry/maids room: I stand at the entrance, and I can feel my feet curling up just looking at the floor.
5. The store room out in the hallway: Don't dare to look.

Harry P., I'd have to postpone our date.

What is it about truth?

House-hunting woes surfaced again. Very long story; don't feel like sharing at the moment. But Aileen sent a quote (from Ocean of Dharma Quotes of the Week) that reminds me of all the times Terence and I argue.

Truth is like a thunderbolt
Dharma literally means "truth" or "norm". It is a particular way of thinking, a way of viewing the world, which is not a concept but experience. This particular truth is very painful truth -- usually truths are. It rings with the sound of reality, which comes too close to home. We become completely embarrassed when we begin to hear the truth. It is wrong to think that the truth is going to sound fantastic and beautiful, like a flute solo. The truth is actually like a thunderbolt. It wakes you up and makes you think twice whether you should stay in the rain or move into the house. Provocative.

New baby Adidas shoes. Mother's note: Never buy any more shoes with laces. They are very hard to wear. Lucky this pair came relatively cheap from the Adidas warehouse in Perth.
